Cotton Canvas in 10 oz. and 15 oz. weights: Cotton canvas is best for all
around comfort, wearablility, and has ultraviolet protection factor UPF 50+. Watership pre-washes
the fabric to reduce shrinkage and add to it's softness.
Spec50™ Lightweight Nylon: Spec50 nylon is a
great choice for summer hats, having excellent sun protection (UPF 50+) and an aerobic action
evaporative cooling system. Hats of lightweight nylon wick moisture, are breathable, and
dry quickly.
Cordura® Nylon Cordura nylon is an excellent choice of fabric for long
lasting sun protection (UPF 50+), easy care, and breathability. It is a heavier fabric than
the Spec50 nylon (above) and adds durable water repellency to hats made with it.
Everdry™ Sweatbands: Everdry material is used in the sweatband of
Watership hats to make them extremely efficient in wicking perspiration and to enhance the
evaporative cooling effect that is natural to many of the fabrics used.
Washable Leather from Salz of Santa Cruz For Watership hats with leather
accessories, Watership uses a premium washable leather from hides that are sourced and tanned in the
United States. They are tested for color fastness and to retain suppleness with rugged use and machine
washing. For best results Watership recommends washing with Woolite™.
Watership Hats Float ! In 1990, Carol Frechette designed the
first canvas hat with a layer of closed cell foam in the brim using the same polymer materials as in
high quality personal flotation devices. It is hypo-allergenic and manufactured without CFC's.
The resulting “star” pattern and quilting of the characteristic Watership broad brim has
